FAQs

   In Short...

Metavue Citation is a free and open collection of research papers, literature reviews, essays and other articles written by a wide variety of students. The Citation collection provides an unmatched peer-based resource for students working on their own writing projects.  Publishing authors maintain full ownership and copyright to all their work and subscribers are encouraged to use Metavue Citation in a manner consistent with research and writing guidelines promoted by organizations like the Modern Language Association (MLA) and the American Psychological Association (APA). This use of student work represents a revolutionary application of intellectual property which sets Metavue Citation apart from other online research offerings.  Key features include:

  • Open access means all Citation publications are available to any subscriber free of charge.
  • Thousands of papers in over 100 subject areas ranging from Physics to Creative Writing available in PDF format.
  • Searchable database indexed by title, keywords/phrases, and subject area.
  • Seamless access to relate research in Google Academic™, Microsoft Live Search Academic™ and Wikipedia®.

       Get Work Done Anytime, Anywhere

Subscribers can log in and use the library from any computer with internet access. All papers are cataloged using the familiar MARC record attributes you are used to seeing in any library, making it easy to quickly track down work by searching for terms in a title, description, or key words and phrases. Your account also keeps track of which papers you've read so you can quickly find them again when you need to. All papers are made available in PDF format, and can be downloaded or read online.

       Peer Review

Rather then have us tell subscribers what is wheat and what is chaff, Metaview Citation relies on you, the reader, to rate and comment on any paper you read.   Subscribers to view the ratings and comments of others before deciding to read a work of potential interest.

       Open Access

In response to end-user feedback, Metavue has abandoned it's pay-for-view subscription policy in 2007.  Both Metavue Citation and Metavue Forum are open-access, no-charge academic resources. This means any submissions made to Citation are freely available to the public, much as they would be if published in Wikipedia.

       Submitting and Managing Papers

Through their secured account, authors can submit and manage papers from any computer with internet access. They can also track "views" and ratings of their papers to more effectively manage online content.   Papers can be submitted in a variety of familiar word-processing formats including MS Word, RTF, PDF and plain text.   Regardless of the format authors work in, all material in Metavue Citation is made available to subscribers in PDF format.
