The FW Rausch Arts and Humanities Paper Contest

    Overview Have you written a paper you're particularly proud of? The FW Rausch Scholarship Fund presents several awards each year to high school and college students enrolled in accredited schools in the U.S.   Scholarships are granted for exemplary work in a variety of Arts- and Humanities-related areas the contestant may choose from. Work may focus on research, biography, or critical essay.
    Rules

    To qualify participants must adhere to the following rules:

  • The applicant must be enrolled at an accredited high school, two-year, four-year college or university, or be enrolled in a graduate-level program, in the U.S.
  • The applicant must be a legal resident of the U.S. or hold a valid student visa.
  • The applicant must be a student in “good standing”.
  • The student must have a cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 3.0 at the time the award is granted.
  • The deadline for Spring 2009 entries is 12:00 p.m. (Noon) CST on May 1st, 2009.   No late entries will be accepted!
  • Please direct all questions concerning scholarships to scholarships@metavue.com.
  • No scholarship or essay contest questions can be answered by phone.
  • Contestants must adhere to the "Instructions and Guidelines" below in submitting their work

    The scholarship will be awarded for what is judged to be the best research paper, biography or critical essay submitted in a subject area of the applicants choosing. The emphasis of evaluation is on quality background research and effective communication in writing.

    Submitted work must be written using word-processing software. Acceptable formats include MS Word, .PDF and RTF.  Papers may contain tables, footnotes, a table of contents and diagrams as needed to communicate effectively.  A reference section is highly recommended.

    Papers may address any topic selected by the contestant, but must be in a subject area identified when the paper is submitted. To see a list of valid subject areas for this scholarship click here. Papers must be at least 1000 words in length, with no word maximum.  The file size of submissions may not exceed 1MB.

    Papers will be judged in terms of the following criteria:

  • Show good research skills. Bibliography and other references cited.
  • Good writing skills. Well-structured writing, including grammar and spelling.
  • Communicate effectively. Organized thought, building on background, no loose ends.
  • Work will be evaluated by staff at Metavue Corp, and by a select group of college students as part of a peer review process.

The Robert Rufflo Scholarship Fund awards several scholarhships a year to high school and college students enrolled in accredited schools in the U.S.  Scholarships are granted for exemplary work in a variety of applied and basic science fields. Work may focus on original research, a research review, or critical essay. 6/15/2009

    Famous People and Their Work The "Famous People and Their Work" scholarship contest is looking for good biographies.  Submit a paper you've written dealing with a famous person who has made a contribution to our lives and society.  From Madam Curie and the discovery of radium to B.F. Skinner expanding our understanding of behavior, there are many possibilities.  This scholarship contest is most appropriate for upper high schools levels, and undergraduate students pursuing a liberal arts education.  Awards are granted for exemplary work submitted in compliance with the contest rules. 2/1/2009
