MetaVue reserves the right to change these Terms and Conditions by updating this page at any time without advance notice. You account is intended for your use only. You may not share your account, for subscription or publishing purposes, with other people.

Terms Related To Publishing

In order to publish to Metavue Citation you must be able to form a legally binding contract. If you are under the age of 18 you cannot publish to Metavue Citation without the supervision of your parents or guardian.

Effective September 1st 2007, Metavue will no longer pay Citation publishers for their work.  This policy change has been made in response to the finding that while people find the Citation collection to be a valuable research tool, they are unwilling to pay subscription fees in order to access the work.  As part of this policy change, people will be allowed to subscribe to Citation, at no cost, before being able to access the collection of published work there.

Copyright, Ownership and Author Identity

Metavue makes no claim to any material published in Citation.  All rights to published work remain with the author, and work may be modified or removed at the discretion of the author. Further, we do not transfer ownership of any material from publishers to subscribers or any other party. We will make reasonable effort to identify you as an author and inform subscribers of your rights as a publisher.  However, we must rely on information you provide in terms of your personal identity for these purposes.

Publishers may not add work to Metavue Citation that they do not own.  Metavue accepts original work only from publishers that they are legally able to post on the site.  Materials posted on the site a) may not infringe on any third-party copyright, trademark, trade secret, or violate any law or legal regulation, b) may not be obscene or otherwise harmful to minors, c) may not be threatening, defamatory, or libelous in nature, d) may not contain any viruses, or software that disrupts the functioning of the site or of others using the site, and e) must be cataloged appropriately and may not intentionally mislead others in terms of content and quality. Metavue may suspend or terminate your account if it suspects or determines that you have violated any of these provisions.

License

You agree to give us a non-exclusive license, at no cost, to post any material you submit in Metavue Citation. This includes information you provide to catalog such materials, as well as the materials themselves. Further, you give us the right to use any material and information you provide in promoting the site and Citation, including description of materials as well as potions of the materials themselves.

Abandoned Accounts

Metavue uses email to contact publishers regarding materials they have published and regarding any other issues or concerns related to their account.  Therefore, you agree to keep your contact information up-to-date and provide an email address that can reliably be used to contact you.  If we are unable to contact you for a period of at least six months, we will treat your account as having been abandoned by you.  In this event, Metavue reserves the right to continue managing and publishing the material you have published.  This does not affect your rights as owner, or your copyright to the published material. 

Terms Related to Subscription Services

Metavue Citation is in a large part an open forum that allows people to publish work without subjecting it to and approval process other than honoring the terms of use. Therefore, you should expect to find work which varies greatly in quality and usability.   Metavue makes no claim regarding the quality or usability of any material in Metavue Citation, and makes it available to users "as is".  

Metavue Citation is intended for use as a research tool.  Metavue does not endorse the use of material published in Citation in any manner which is illegal.  Further, it is Metavue's position that all rights to published work remain with the original author, and Metavue will take steps it deems reasonable to protect those rights, including removal from the site of ratings, rating comments, and cancellation of end-user accounts.

MetaVue assumes no responsibility for any linked sites or content outside of this site and provides any outside links to you as a convenience only, and the inclusion of any link does not imply endorsement by MetaVue.

Intellectual Property

MetaVue makes no claim to intellectual property posted to the site in as a result of services provided to other parties, or related to intellectual work submitted for one of the scholarship contests or to Metavue Citation.   It is our policy that such work is, and remains, the property of the author, and Metavue has no rights to use, sell, or transfer said materials for any reason without the prior consent of the author.
